Dr. Guchereau specializes in the psychiatric evaluation, complementary therapy approach, and medical management of children, adolescents and adults in San Francisco, CA. She has been certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. Dr. Guchereau specializes in the evaluation and treatment of the attention issues (ADD/ADHD), depression and anxiety. She is committed to providing specialized and individualized service, and a comprehensive treatment plan is created for each patient. She is experienced in multiple modalities of psychotherapy, including psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral and mindfulness-based approaches.

Since becoming a PMHNP, Erik has worked in high-volume settings with varied patient populations in San Francisco. From 2014 to 2018, he was the psychiatric provider at the Felton Early Psychosis Program (formerly called the Prevention and Recovery in Early Psychosis (PREP) program). At PREP, Erik managed the medication needs of young people experiencing their first psychotic or manic episodes, as well as clients considered to be at high risk of developing psychotic and bipolar disorders.
From 2014 to 2017, Erik worked as a psychiatric consultant at Progress Foundation’s transitional residential treatment centers, ensuring that residents receive continuity of psychiatric care. These include their Senior’s Program, which focuses on seniors (age 60 or over) with psychiatric or social adjustment problems, and Cortland House, a 90-day residential treatment program for adults with psychiatric and co-occurring (formerly dual-diagnoses) conditions.
Since 2015, Erik has worked at Westside’s Outpatient and Crisis Clinics. There, he provides medication management and crisis services to uninsured, low-income, and/or indigent clients with a wide variety of psychiatric conditions, including psychotic, major mood, anxiety, insomnia, trauma-related, and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorders; personality disorders, traumatic brain injuries, and co-occurring substance use disorders.
Education
Erik completed a Post-Masters PMHNP program at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) with a GPA of 4.0. He was a recipient of a Gero-Psychiatric Stipend. He completed his PMHNP residency at UCSF’s Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute’s Consultation-Liaison Services, supporting the management of patients with mental disorders who have been admitted for the treatment of medical problems at UCSF Medical Center’s emergency room and inpatient units.
Erik earned a Masters of Science in Nursing degree from Samuel Merritt University, Oakland, CA, graduating summa cum laude. His thesis is entitled Nurse Care Coordination Program for Early Intervention for First Episode Psychosis.

Erik splits his time between San Francisco and San Diego. He lives with his husband Tom, and their dog Nemo. He enjoys gardening, traveling, and reading non-fiction books. A native of Singapore, Erik has lived in the Bay Area for 20 years.
